Registration Fees:
Registration Fees are non-refundable, once the player has been registered.
Register Early: Teams are formed on a First Come - First Serve Basis.
1601 Registration Form and Birth Certificate: All recreation players must mail (or email, in PDF File Format) a completed and signed 1601 Registration Form and a Birth Certificate to OVYSL’s Registrar. This season, OVYSL has a new Process and a new Registrar, and therefore the League is requiring a birth certificate from all players. Once a birth certificate is submitted by a player, that player will not be required to do so in any future seasons.
Player’s Current Contact Information is Essential: While registering online, verify that the player’s phone number and email address, in the player’s permanent record, are current. This will allow OVYSL to communicate important League announcements and to effectively connect players with their coaches.
Coaches Must Keep in Their Possession, a 1601 Registration Form From Each Player: Each player must provide their coach with a completed and signed copy of the 1601 Form, on the first day of practice, BEFORE the player can begin practice.
Pictures: For players born before 8/01/2001, coaches will be requesting or taking a picture, when practices begin. The picture must be 1.5” X 1”, must be a front facing head shot, and the player shall not be wearing a hat or glasses. It is preferred that you upload a picture during the registration process, although it is not mandatory. Do not mail pictures to OVYSL’s Registrar, as they will not be forwarded to the coach.
Requests: Each player can request up to two coaches. List the coaches’ names (first and last) in order of preference. Each player can request up to two friends. List the friends’ names (first and last – do not reference school names) in order of preference, as only one will be considered. If you have a carpool arrangement, list the friend’s name in the friend request and indicate “carpool”. This request will be considered as a priority over any coach request, but not over another player that has registered earlier. It would be advantageous for BOTH carpool participants to request each other as “carpool” friends (clearly indicated) and to register early on. Registration order is based on the date and time of online registration. “Coach” and “Friend” requests are granted on a First Come-First Serve Basis, using the date and time of online registration. Requests are NOT guaranteed, but a conscientious effort will be made to grant them. It is strongly suggested that ONLY requests of highest priority are made during the online registration process and that players register early, if they have special coach or friend requests. No registration requests will be granted for late registrations.
Age Groups: The age group, into which a player is placed, is determined by the player’s date of birth. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made that allow for players to play up an age group, or to play down an age group. OVYSL’s Competitive Program is available to most players that are exceptionally skilled. Teams: Players are NOT allowed to switch teams once rosters are set.
Volunteer Program: OVYSL’s Recreational Program is comprised of volunteer coaches, and therefore there is no guarantee that a player can be placed with a coach that will hold practice in the city in which the player resides. Each volunteer coach determines their team’s practice times and locations, based on their personal schedule, and these times and locations can change at any time during the season. Coaches are at liberty to hold practices on Mondays - Thursdays, in Morgan Hill, Gilroy, San Martin or any combination of these days and locations.
Wait List Process: Once the online registration deadline has passed, players can be placed on a waiting list, by emailing OVYSL’s Registrar at ovregistrar@charter.net. Please write “Wait List Request” in the subject and in the body of the email. In the email, please include the Player’s First and Last Name, Date of Birth, Gender, and a Contact Phone Number. Players will be contacted by OVYSL’s Registrar, if there is space on a roster, and then be provided with information on how to register. This Offline Registration Process is also documented below. If a player is contacted by OVYSL’s Registrar, that there is space on a roster, please mail the registration documents and payment promptly. If the registration package is not received by the Registrar within 4 calendar days, that open spot will be made available to the next person on the wait list. Be sure to include the late fee of $25.00, along with the registration fee. Do not mail any registration documents or payment unless OVYSL’s Registrar has contacted you to do so. Players will be kept on the waiting list until shortly before games begin, as there may be spots that become available at that time. Special requests will NOT be granted for wait listed players.
Offline Registration Process: Although online registration is strongly encouraged, an offline procedure exists for players that are not able to register online or for those wait listed players that have been informed by OVYSL’s Registrar that a spot has opened, after the online system has closed.Download and complete a 1601 Registration Form from www.ovysl.org. Select: Forms, CYSA Forms, CYSA Registration Forms, CYSA Registration Form #1601.
It is also an option to drop this package off to the Registrar’s address. Please place the package into the “Recreation” soccer box, located against the left (when facing garage) side of the house. Do not place the package into the mailbox or into the box labeled “Competitive”.
New to the Program:
Uniforms: U6 - U10 players will be provided with a soccer jersey and all U12 - U14 players will be provided with a full uniform (jersey, shorts, socks).
Equipment: U8 - U14 coaches will be provided with 3 game balls and all U6 coaches will receive one soccer ball, for each player, to be given to each player at the end of the season.
Medals: All players will receive a participation medal at the end of the season.
U8 Format: U8 teams will play 7V7 in the spring and in the fall seasons.
U6 Age Group: The U6 age group has been modified to include only 4 - 6 year olds. If a player participated in OVYSL’s Recreation Program this past fall season and is unable to register, based on the new age range, please email Caroline Hamilton at hamiltonhaus@aol.com. Only those younger players that participated in this past fall’s season will be grand-fathered into the program and allowed to manually register this spring.

with an applicable $25.00 late fee.
Players that register on or after this date are NOT guaranteed to be
placed on a team roster, as team rosters may already have filled to capacity
based on OVYSL’s First Come-First Serve Policy.
February 16, 2012: Online registration system CLOSES at 11:59 PM and will not accept any registrations after this date. See Wait List Process outlined above.
March 12, 2012: Coaches will have received team rosters.
March 17, 2012: Coaches are expected to have contacted all players on their team roster.
March 19, 2012: Practices can begin, although determined and scheduled by each coach.
April 14, 2012: Season games begin.
June 2, 2012: Season games end. There will not be a Spring Jamboree.
