To enroll into the Orchard Valley Soccer Club’s (OVSC’s) Competitive Program, the player must have been evaluated and selected by a coach during the Competitive Tryout Process or during an Identification Day. Players that have not been selected through the Competitive Tryout Process or an ID Day, must sign up for the Recreational Program.

 

Each candidate will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

• Technical Skills
• Tactical Decision Making
• Physical Ability
• Psychological/Mental Strength (work ethic, discipline, commitment and coachability)

A coach or OVSC staff member will contact each candidate’s family within 10 days following tryouts.

Attendance at practices is mandatory and should only be missed under special circumstances.  The player is expected to contact the coach in advance of an absence. Most teams practice twice per week and most practices are held at the Morgan Hill Sports Complex on Condit Ave.

 

Attendance at games is mandatory.  

 

If games are rescheduled on short notice, players are expected to attend. Teams may play in tournaments over weekends and during holidays and all players are expected to attend. Players are expected to arrive approximately 45 minutes prior to kick-off, for all games. 

 

Players will be required to travel to games. 

 

Most competitive teams practice Year-Round, and compete in League Play during the Spring and the Fall, for 8 - 10 games per season.

 

Tournament fees and uniform costs are not included in the registration fee.  The team coach may also request that players purchase other team apparel, which becomes an incremental cost.
